The unique concert took place in the Jose Marti Anti-imperialist Tribunal, a gigantic outdoors stage located near the Office of Interests of United States in Cuba. The SINA is the building on the left of the picture.

Lots of rock n' roll fans met there since very early, and they stood the hot Caribbean sun for hours to ensure themselves a good place to enjoy the show as near the stage as possible.

Gradually, many others arrived, carrying their knapsacks from different distant regions of the country in order not to lose one of the most outstanding cultural events of the last decades in Cuba.

Audioslave is composed by former members of the band Rage Against The Machine.... the drummer Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford, bass.

... and Chris Cornell, the singer of the old grunge band Soundgarden.

The band played for over two hours.

Flags of different Latin American countries waved during the concert, among them those of Venezuela, Mexico, Argentina and Cuba. One of the thousands of fans inspired by the energy of the performance, gift the Cuban flag to Cornell, who notably excited made it float for several seconds as a symbol of friendship with the island. Cuba is avid of this type of cultural events.

Tom Morello, considered as the guitarist with the most deep social conscience inside the context of the North American rock n' roll, showed sentences like SOUL POWER and ARM THE HOMELESS in his guitars.

His T-Shirt with the word "Paix", (Peace in French) and the image of the Cuban flag in his left wrist showed that there can be no doubt about Audioslave's commitment with the social justice and the necessity to help those excluded in the capitalist system.

The vehicle for such a purpose is its music and the social activism. That's why Morello founded Axis of Justice together with Serj Tankian, the singer of System of a Down. Axis of Justice is an organization created to support the poorest people in the era of globalization, and also to influence on the worldwide conscience about the necessity of putting an end to the war in Iraq.

The concert was opened by X Alfonso, a famous young Cuban musician who mingles Cuban music with modern rhythms such as rock, rap and electronic music.

Later, during Audioslave's performance, X Alfonso joined the visitor band with his percussion. He made a very good impression on Cornell.

And here is Cornell, as a happy child with a new toy!!!!!

In several occasions the Audioslave musicians put their fists in the air and they were overwhelmingly imitated by the multitude.

This expression was for a long time the symbol of the Black Panthers, an organization of the 60's that fought for the rights of the black people in the United States.

The fans sang for over two hours the lyrics of Black Hole Sun, Like a Stone, Cochise. They were euphoric to be in front of one of the most famous rock n'roll bands in the world. They used their bodies as "fight weapons" and they fought friendly, crushing into each other in a violent dance, before the astonished eyes of numerous policemen. Nevertheless the night was calm and the event lapsed without incidents.

Chris Cornell, a very activ front-man in the scene, declared with a smile in his face: The Cuban Tour of Audioslave is a hope, is the first step to the normalization of the cultural interchange between our two countries.

Rock n' roll and rap are demonstrating that, in spite of the misunderstandings during previous decades in Cuba, this kind of music is mostly committed with the best causes of social justice. These artists mobilize thousands of young people around the world in favor of the end of the war and in favor of the anti-globalization movements.

At the end of the concert, Chris Cornell looked into the horizon, closed his fists and dropped some tears on the Cuban ground. They, deeply touched by the Cuban audience, promised: Cuba, we'll be back soon!!
